North West Orienteering Club are pleased to invite you to the North Island MTBO (Mountain Bike Orienteering) Champs, to be held on November 12th and 13th, 2016. The event will be held on the Marquita's Garden map near Helensville, as used for the Woodhill to Whaka MTBO Carnival in 2014, and unused for MTBO since March 2014. Three races are on offer - on Saturday a Sprint race in the morning followed by a Middle distance in the afternoon, and on Sunday a 90-minute Rogaine.
This area has a fantastic network of MTB tracks, on sand based terrain. All controls are on tracks and, for the Sprint and Middle races, controls must be visited in order (see the maps below for course examples). Your task is to select and ride the quickest route between controls.
Everyone is welcome to enter, beginners can choose to race as a pair if you prefer (in which case you should enter one of the recreational classes).
The weekend will be an ideal lead-up to the New Zealand MTBO Championships on the following weekend in Rotorua (18th-20th November 2016). Come and sharpen up those MTBO skills on one of the best MTBO maps we have to offer. Midweek, visitors can check out the MTB trails in the Auckland, Rotorua and Taupo MTB parks.

Prizegiving
There will be a prizegiving for all 3 events at 1pm on the Sunday after the Rogaine.
